Is there a difference between the word “yard” and “lawn” to describe your garden?
Main Post:
Or are they just synonyms that mean the same
Top Comment: A lawn is a yard of grass. Some yards are lawns, but others are not. A garden is a plot of land where you are intentionally planting and cultivating either edible plants or decorative plants.
How do you keep up with the yard?
Main Post:
The weeds, leaves, pollen, aer always attacking the home. How do you guys keep up with it? What minimum tools do you have to prevent your home being taken over by vegetation?
Top Comment: Learn to work seasonally with your plants to prevent problems...every garden/house is different. Some plants are best cut back in the spring, other stuff is better trimmed in the fall. Certain chores are much easier at a specific time of the year. I try to do one hour/week, minimum, even if all I end up doing is raking leaves...that way you can keep an eye on it, and stay engaged.
How in the world does anyone maintain a yard?

In an hour I will be showing my friend one episode of the podcast. If he laughs three times he will admit that the boys and Ludwig are funny. What episode do I show him. I'm thinking Hank Green. Please help

New house. First lawn ever. Any advice for beginner?

Top Comment: Honestly, it’s not bad. Mow regularly to keep a consistent height around 3 inches. In the spring, that might be 2x/week, every other day in the summer if you can. You want to avoid cutting more than 1/3 of the blade each mow, so you’ll need to keep up with it. Pull up those weeds and the poa. Do a soil test and fertilize accordingly. I use the $30 soil test from Amazon once or twice a year. Once you get the hang of it, plan for an overseed this fall.
how do y'all yard?

i get to work at 8 am CST (corporate paper shuffling essentially) and on thursdays, i re-listen/watch on YT last week's ep while I wait for this week's to drop. it's nice bc they often reference the most recent episode in the next one, so it gives me a little refresher. so I guess I watch every episode twice.
my brother usually listens in the car w audio only if he drives to work that day, but if not, he listens after work. we always send little quotes back and forth that make us laugh as we watch.
i'm curious about how others consume the yard. how do y'all listen? (edited to add some details no one asked for)
edit again, i genuinely love seeing how we all consume this pod, all kinds of folks in all kinds of jobs & places working the boys into their lives. thanks everyone so far for sharing!
Top Comment: I throw it on when working and it kills a couple hours of my day at the desk. Makes my Wednesdays a little more bearable in the corporate machine of software engineering
Where the heck do I start my yard work
Main Post:
So I have a new homeowners question. Need to do yard work soon, and I don't even know where to begin. 30 percent of my backyard is all weeds. Another 30 percent is just dirt and then the other 40 percent is a mix between weeds/Crabgrass. Help!!
